No pop or anything, but definitely felt something not right. I stopped hangboarding immediately. It felt tweaky and "off" in the moment, but I could move it through its range of motion just fine. It felt like I could seriously injure it if I did anything more.

The next day it felt weird, but didnt really hurt. Discomfort at the base of my ring finger. The discomfort went away almost completely after 2 days of rest. I tried climbing a few juggy climbs and tried a slightly more difficult big hold climb, and I felt it getting worse progressively. Again, it felt uncomfortable, but didnt really hurt, just like I could make it really bad if I continued . My stregnth was still there and I could pull hard on it if I wanted to (but that would make it worse so I didnt). It doesnt hurt to press physcially on it or to pull down on holds, but it feels worse the longer my session goes (not very long after 3-4 easy non crimpy climbs). 2 days later the pain dissipates again. Its highly localized to just above the base of my ring finger

What could this be? Im told A2, but it was an open handed injury not from a crimp, and taping it doesnt seem to help because its not JUST crimps that seems to aggravate it. I have a Red River Gorge trip planned in 5 weeks which I had been training for, im hoping this thing can heal more after 2 weeks of rest since "active recovery" is stagnating the injury.

Photo of exactly where I feel it: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10157470970875462&set=a.387038540461.359577.619810461&type=3Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4692690742617863595.post-29425633306536060642016-08-22T05:40:57.131-07:002016-08-22T05:40:57.131-07:00Interesting article about how to eliminate foot pa...Interesting article about how to eliminate foot pain. This could be due the the angle my hand rests on the guitar, or the stretching of the finger over the fretboard. Are there specific massage techniques that can be used? or just long bouts of rest, with good strapping, combined with light pressure and just trying to lengthen the tendons?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4692690742617863595.post-67254384691320661342015-10-22T01:44:07.921-07:002015-10-22T01:44:07.921-07:00Hi,

I went to see my family doctor and an x-ray ruled out any bone issues. My doctor then suggested I have tendonitis and that I need to wear a thumb/wrist splint for 6-8 weeks. In my research of tendonitis, it is all dealing with the base of the thumb which is not where my pain is.

The area is swollen but there is no pain when my thumb is at rest. It only hurts if I grab something or push down on my thumb. Does it sound like a possibility that my A2 pulley is injured? If so, does wearing a splint help? I would appreciate any advice you can give me.
